In an early January debate, George Stephanopoulos questioned Mitt Romney a really irrelevant question about the issue of birth control which the Supreme Court settled in 1965 and whose proposal was not on any state ballot. Then, within a month or so the Catholic outcry over Obamacare and whole Sandra Fluke-thing broke commencing the Dems charge of a Republican “War on Women”. Though they state otherwise , the Dems are clearly using the phrase as a fundraising tool and a way to tarnish the GOP’s chances with female voters this Fall. Into that mess steps DNC adviser Hilary Rosen who had this to say about Ann Romney (go to 0:46): The Dems have been in hurt-control mode all day! This, in the same week that numbers were revealed indicating that on average women are being paid 18% less than men who work in Obama’s own White House! Now we know those numbers are skewed, given that maternity leave and lack of overtime push women’s numbers down in every profession, but if the Dems want to belittle child-rearing and ignore a White House with pay equity issues, then game on. No one messes with Ann Romney!

“War on Women” Charge Backfiring
New York City is the greatest city in the world, but even the largest Gothamphile would admit that the place can have a bit of a rat problem. It isn’t a huge deal when they’re down on the subway tracks or in Queens, but when the critters start infesting parks and playgrounds, even those with a bent toward animal rights are willing to bait the problem areas with rat poison. Unfortunately, NYC hawks have been eating the poisoned rats which mean some of them are dropping dead too . Some areas of the city are seeing the hawk endangerment as a necessary evil, but NYC liberals being NYC liberals, some areas refuse to bait rodent-infested areas to protect the hawks. So the battle lines have been drawn: rats vs. hawks. No sane person likes an urban rat, but many people like hawks. It’s a shame that human beings aren’t receiving the same consideration. If they were, kids wouldn’t be playing with rats in sandboxes and the hawks would be flying a small lower on the food chain.

Effective talking heads are nearly essential to successful political campaigns. Like catchy tunes in a commercial ( this being one of my favorite), a party’s message that is repeated often enough sinks into the minds of the voters. Unfortunately, the left has dominated the talking head game ever since Haley Barbour stepped down as Chairman of the Republican National Committee back in the 1990s. The result is that low-attention voters are tricked into believing Democrat lies such as “Bush lied,” “trickle down doesn’t work,” “war on women” etc. simply because the lies are repeated often enough. Only when effective Republican talking heads effectively counter those lies with facts and common sense are low-attention voters given enough information to make a wise choice in the voting booth. Enter Reince Priebus, current Chairman of the RNC. In this video of an MSNBC interview lifted from Red State , Priebus displays an aptitude for the talking head game by forcefully and politely refusing to accept the premise that the Republicans are waging a war on women while steering the discussion back to the one topic Democrats dread more than Nancy Pelosi fears holy water: the economy. If Priebus and other Republican talking heads agree to numerous interviews and take this approach to all of them, the electorate will be more informed and focused. That spells distress for the President’s re-election.
